The recent Commit2Drones (C2D) Speed Dating Event held at PwC brought together professionals from across the UK’s drone, surveying and digital construction sectors. It was a fast-paced evening of innovation and knowledge sharing.
The event featured an impressive 38 five-minute presentations, giving C2D members the opportunity to briefly introduce their work, projects and ideas. Moreover, the rapid format meant attendees were able to hear a wide range of perspectives from across the industry in a short space of time. Especially as Commit2Drones allowed many experts to participate.
Five Minutes to Share Big Ideas
Among the speakers was Tom Avery, Head of Commercial – Digital Construction, who delivered a short presentation on the evolution of the Vogel system. Of note, Commit2Drones was a platform where Tom shared his experience.
Tom explained how the system has developed and how drone technology continues to support digital construction, surveying and data capture across complex projects.
The event highlighted how organisations across the sector are tackling similar challenges while exploring new opportunities for drone technology in construction, inspection and environmental monitoring. Thanks to Commit2Drones, many of these challenges received fresh perspectives.

The evening concluded with the Environment Agency receiving a well-deserved trophy, recognising their contribution and innovation within the community. This recognition was warmly celebrated by Commit2Drones and attendees alike.
The award sparked plenty of discussion and a few jokes about which side hustles people might prefer to avoid!
