Role Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Rail Surveyor to join our Digital Construction – Rail team, supporting the delivery of specialist surveying projects across rail and highway environments nationwide.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced surveyor with a background in rail or infrastructure surveying who is looking to further develop their technical expertise while working with advanced survey technologies and delivering projects for major clients including Network Rail and London Underground.
You will be responsible for delivering accurate, high-quality survey data across a range of complex projects, using technologies including laser scanning, UAV and Amberg Track Trolleys. Working closely with Lead Surveyors, Project Managers and delivery teams, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Work alongside Lead Surveyors and Project Managers to identify the most appropriate surveying technologies and methodologies for each project
• Undertake surveying and technical activities across rail and highway environments, ensuring compliance with company quality and health & safety standards
• Manage survey data from initial capture through to final delivery, following company processes and protocols
• Ensure survey outputs are accurate, high quality and delivered in a client-ready format
• Take ownership of assigned project elements, including logistics, planning and coordination with wider project teams
• Communicate project progress, support delivery against deadlines and help ensure projects remain within budget
• Coordinate effectively with clients, subcontractors and other teams working on site
• Support and mentor junior surveyors, helping to develop technical capability and on-site experience
What We’re Looking For
• 3–5 years’ surveying experience, ideally within a rail or infrastructure environment
• Experience using traditional survey techniques and processing survey data
• A relevant qualification in Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong IT skills with experience using surveying and CAD software; experience with N4ce, Cyclone and AutoCAD is advantageous
• Experience working with advanced surveying technologies such as laser scanning, UAV or track surveying equipment would be beneficial
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
• Full UK manual driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide, including occasional night and weekend work when required
• CSCS card required; Personal Track Safety (PTS) and London Underground Worksite Safety Induction (LU-WSSI) desirable
