ROLE OVERVIEW

Working closely with survey leads, client team, office-based processing team and Project Manager, the Surveyor contributes to the successful delivery of the projects by ensuring the capture of high-quality Traversing, observation and NavVis VLX SLAM scan data. The role requires a strong understanding of core survey principles.  Specific training will be provided in the use of specialist equipment.

This role is a 100% site based with data collection activities revolving around a single operational industrial site in the Southampton/Portsmouth area. Plowman Craven have recently been commissioned on a large project located close to Southampton requiring the support of additional survey resource on a fixed term – up to 10-month contract.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in 2 person teams with multiple teams deployed in parallel under the supervision of a Lead Surveyor
  • Undertake high accuracy traversing, levelling and target observation suing Leica equipment
  • Using NavVis VLX SLAM scanning systems, capture point cloud information to defined company workflows
  • Proactively report progress to the project team, completing all shift reports and other requirements of the end client
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with other on-site project teams, and the clients
  • Adhere to the highest safety standards of an operational industrial site
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Approximately 3 years’ general surveying experience,
  • Relevant qualification in Surveying and/or Civil Engineering.
  • Strong experience in traditional survey techniques, specifically around traversing and general total station use
  • Proactive and effective communicator with strong written and spoken English.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and capable of solving problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Experience with NavVis VLX/MLX systems extremely desirable.
  • Full UK manual driving licence: access to a vehicle suitable for supporting project logistics is desirable.
  • Ability to deploy the Southampton/Portsmouth area daily from home location
  • CSCS card required
