ROLE OVERVIEW

As a key member of the Project Management team within the Digital Construction division, the Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of geospatial survey services across built asset and infrastructure projects.

The role ensures that all projects are effectively resourced, delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required technical and quality standards. Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, the Project Manager maintains strong communication channels with clients, internal teams and stakeholders while ensuring full compliance with health, safety and industry regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning and Coordination

  • Collaborate with clients, internal teams and stakeholders to define project requirements, scope and objectives.
  • Develop detailed project plans covering methodology, resources, programme and risk management.
  • Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain programme and budget integrity.
  • Regularly review and update project plans to reflect changes in scope, access, constraints or resource availability.
  • Ensure all survey activities comply with relevant UK legislation, industry standards and company procedures.

Client Liaison and Relationship Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establish clear communication channels to provide updates on progress, risks and changes.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to client queries, concerns and requests for information.
  • Lead client meetings, progress reviews and technical discussions to ensure expectations are met and managed.

Financial Oversight and Commercial Management

  • Track project budgets, costs and forecasts, ensuring financial performance is monitored and controlled.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance project profitability.
  • Prepare financial reports detailing expenditure, variances and commercial risks.
  • Support commercial teams with pricing, quotations and scope clarifications to ensure competitive and accurate proposals.

Team Briefing, Leadership and Resource Management

  • Lead project kick-off meetings to communicate scope, deliverables, safety requirements and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate survey teams, subcontractors and technical specialists to ensure adequate resourcing.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, support and direction to project teams to maintain productivity and quality.
  • Monitor team performance, providing constructive feedback and escalating issues where necessary.

Technical Expertise and Quality Assurance

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of geospatial surveying technologies, methodologies and industry best practice.
  • Provide technical input to project decisions, ensuring feasibility, accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Work closely with technical teams to validate methodologies, review deliverables and resolve technical challenges.
  • Ensure all outputs meet required accuracy, quality and client specifications.

Data Management and Compliance

  • Implement robust data management processes aligned with company policies and industry standards, including PAS 128 and RICS guidance.
  • Oversee quality control checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness and consistency.
  • Ensure secure storage, traceability and retrieval of project data for reporting and audit purposes.

Documentation and Contract Coordination

  • Coordinate the preparation, review and management of project documentation including RAMS, access agreements, contracts and reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of project decisions, communications and variations.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, compliant and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

Client Presentations and Reporting

  • Prepare and deliver clear, tailored presentations showcasing project progress, findings and recommendations.
  • Provide technical support during client meetings, explaining methodologies, results and implications.
    Communicate complex geospatial concepts in a clear, client-friendly manner.

Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure all project activities comply with UK health and safety legislation, CDM regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct or review risk assessments and method statements for all survey activities.
    Promote a strong safety culture across project teams and subcontractors.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Degree in engineering, geomatics, surveying, construction management or related discipline.
  • Proven track record in project management within geospatial surveying, digital construction or automated monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of survey methodologies including topographic surveys, laser scanning, mobile mapping and monitoring systems.
  • Experience delivering projects on built assets and infrastructure, including rail, highways, utilities, buildings or industrial sites.
  • Experience reviewing specifications and defining technical project requirements.
  • Familiarity with NEC3 and NEC4 contracts and commercial processes.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and confidently to clients and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience in cost management, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • High attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a positive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK.
